Applications to be a speaker at WordCamp Montreal 2018 are now open and we would like to invite everyone in the Montreal and WordPress Community to apply. WordCamp will be taking place August 11-12, 2018 at the John Molson School of Business in the heart of Montreal.
Every year the organizing committee at WordCamp Montreal strives to represent their diverse community by ensuring equal representation of language and gender. Our talks run on a variety of tracks such as Code, Design, General Interest, Marketing, Business, & Blogging. The level of complexity varies from beginner to advanced and the length of the talks are 30 minutes plus 15 minutes of Q&A. If you have something you want to share that doesn’t require a full-length talk, we also accept submissions for ten minute lighting talks. These lightning talks are great if you want to showcase a win, give some quick tips or simply share a story.
We’re looking for applicants who are passionate about a WordPress-related topic that they think the community would benefit from learning about. Developer, designer, marketer or business, all applicants are welcome. In addition to being a great way to network and help people learn about what you love, all speakers receive free admission to WordCamp.
The speaker application page has tons of great suggestions for topic ideas, and members of the organizing committee are willing to look over your application in advance of submission if you have a great idea but need a little help fleshing it out. You can also check out last year’s schedule for example topics, or check out WordPress.tv to see how speakers have presented their passion in the past. Some things the organizers are really looking forward to are talks on Gutenberg and anything related to privacy, compliance and GDPR.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 4th 2018 and speakers will be notified the week of June 12. We look forward to hearing from you and reviewing your applications.
